Gabelsbergerstrasse
This building was a challenge: over the years, the war-torn industrial building from 1927, had acquired the charm of a neglected machine - with dark corridors hiding short-term functional rooms embedded within old structures. Our aim was to bring the historic clinker brick building into the present with the appropriate respect deserving of such a grand and historic structure.
New life in the old telegraph office
The methodical transformation of this monument allows the historical building to merge harmoniously with the latest technology. The careful preservation of the history of the house began with the planning. In order to protect and highlight the history of the "Fernsprech-Unteramt Stephan" original elements such as ceramic tiles, wooden floors, and color palettes were referred to in the new version. Thus, one can almost hear the sounds of the post office building moving through the staircases of this cultural heritage building. Gabelsberger Str. has once again become a living building where people can live comfortably and work in style.
The construction
In the run-up to the drywall installation, extensive demolition work was initially necessary: old structures had to give way, walls and ceilings were demolished and inferior components were removed. Thanks to the self-supporting construction of the post office building, it was possible to design the floor plans of the apartments flexibly. The floor areas are characterized by a restrained but high-quality elegance.
The new backyard
Generous balconies have been created at the back of the building, offering space to relax. Practical: each residential unit also has a charging facility for electric vehicles in the rear courtyard.
